Museum Uniforms

The Museum of the Horse Soldier possesses one of the finest collections of original United States Cavalry artifacts, equipment and memorabilia to be found anywhere.  This extensive collection represents the period in history from the Civil War through the end of the mounted Cavalry in 1942.  The mission of the Museum of the Horse Soldier is both to perpetuate the history and traditions of the United States horse cavalry and to be an educational resource to the general public.

Displays include uniforms, arms and accoutrements, military tack, artifacts, memorabilia and a diverse photographic and visual representation of the eras.  The Museum of the Horse Soldier is especially proud of its' superlative collection of U.S. military saddles and tack displaying most every variation from Pre-Civil War through the end of the Horse Cavalry.

The Museum of the Horse Soldier is pleased to display the Steve Szabo relic collection.  This historically important and most impressive collection amassed by Mr. Szabo over a period of thirty years, contains legally dug artifacts from 22 different military camps and forts throughout Arizona and New Mexico.  This relic collection is housed in the ‘Forts of the Southwest’ wing of the Museum and opened to the public in July of 2002.
